Comments and Thoughts
The Pace RideShare Program assists commuters with getting around Northwestern Illinois by bus, biking/walking, carpooling, Pace Vanpooling and train. Our services include providing travel information, online ridematching and encouragement to commuters.
Pace Suburban Bus oversees the Pace Vanpooling and aims to operate a safe Pace Vanpool Program. Your comments and suggestions are valuable to Pace because they highlight opportunities to improve the quality of this service.
To make it easier for you to provide feedback, it might help to know that the Pace Vanpool Program consists of four different types of service:
- Advantage Van –a Not-For-Profit Shuttle Vehicle Program run by Pace Bus, which provides vans to not-for-profit agencies in the Pace service area for their use in transporting individuals between work sites and public transportation centers. Drivers are hired by the not-for-profit agency.
- Traditional Vanpool – a 5 to 13-person rideshare group traveling to work with a volunteer driver (similar to a carpool driver) but screened by Pace. Opportunities to find an existing vanpool and assistance with joining are supported by the Pace RideShare Program
- Metra Feeders –a 5 to 13-person rideshare group traveling between a Metra station and work with a volunteer driver (similar to a carpool driver) but screened by Pace. Half of the participants must purchase a Metra monthly pass or 10-ride ticket. Opportunities to find an existing vanpool and assistance with joining are supported by the Pace RideShare Program
- Employer Shuttle –Pace Bus supplies vans to employers, who in turn provide the drivers and pay a monthly fee to Pace to transport workers from area transit centers to work sites
